This is part of Noak's Language class. We are learning about complete sentences, and theme writing. Our current lesson set is about animals. So he drew a picture of an elephant and then dictated a sentence about what his elephant was doing. That is his name at the bottom of the page. The first weird mark was him not paying attention to my directions.
Here is his name. He writes it everyday and is getting better and better all the time. We are using a method called Hand Writing without Tears and it is working great. I can coach with directions that are the same for all letters. So for the "N" in his name I tell him, "Strait line down, leap frog (or leap back) up, slide down to the line, strait line up." He is learning about big curves, little curves, strait line, little line across, etc. We are working strictly with uppercase as I quickly discovered that lowercase letters are a lot harder to teach when the child has no writing skills at all. So that will come later. Anyway, Noak is amazing and picking this all up so much faster than I thought he would.
